Job Summary
The Swedish Neurosurgery Cherry Hill clinic is a highly specialized practice supporting complex neurosurgical care. The
Patient Care Coordinator
plays a key role in ensuring efficient clinic operations by coordinating appointments, managing referrals, and supporting timely patient access to care. This role requires strong teamwork and professional communication across a multidisciplinary care team, as well as attention to detail when handling schedules, referrals, and sensitive patient information. Successful candidates are organized, self-sufficient, and able to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and patient service.
The Patient Care Coordinator supports a highly specialized neurosurgery practice by coordinating patient access to care across all phases of the surgical journey. This role is responsible for scheduling services, coordinating care team members, supporting insurance authorization workflows, and ensuring accurate, timely communication between patients, providers, and internal teams. The position is critical to maintaining efficient clinic operations and a high-quality patient experience in a fast-paced, specialty environment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, procedures, and follow-up care across a multidisciplinary neurosurgery care team.
Support insurance coordination processes, including obtaining required authorizations, verifying coverage, and facilitating communication with payers and patients as needed.
Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, ensuring clear communication, timely follow-through, and continuity of care.
Collaborate closely with providers, APCs, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure clinic workflows run smoothly and patient needs are addressed efficiently.
Maintain accurate scheduling, referral, and patient information within the electronic medical record, adhering to confidentiality and compliance requirements.
Independently manage multiple priorities in a high-volume clinical setting while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
Required Experience
Minimum of 1 year of administrative experience in a medical or healthcare setting, or 2 years of administrative/customer service experience in a fast-paced office environment.
Demonstrated experience in scheduling, referral coordination, insurance/authorization workflows, or front-end clinic operations.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Experience handling confidential patient information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience in a clinic, specialty practice, or surgical office in an administrative or coordinator role.
Experience coordinating insurance verification or prior authorizations.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience (EPIC)
Candidates with administrative and care-coordination backgrounds are strongly preferred.
