It will be part of the Life In‑Force Management team, working on reinsurance, key value auditing, and policy review.
Preferred Experience
Excel, VBA, and SQL are highly preferred.

Job Description
As a Technical Specialist, you will gain thorough knowledge of actuarial functions for our Nationwide Financial products. You will perform increasingly sophisticated actuarial methodologies to estimate future loss and premium results for ratemaking or valuation purposes. We will count on you to complete a wide variety of actuarial assignments with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities
Compile, categorize, and analyze data with limited supervision.
Assist and support in building sophisticated testing tools and analysis of product calculations and product illustrations.
Assist with construction, maintenance, and execution of financial, actuarial, projection, and valuation models.
Assist with financial reporting and analysis.
Support pricing and implementation of products.
Conduct analysis of risks for Nationwide lines of business.
Assist and support in valuation/reserving under multiple accounting regimes (statutory, GAAP, and tax) for products.
Conduct some analysis of reinsurance opportunities.
Assist within specialty areas on highly specialized phases of data and analytics, potentially including data governance, data strategy development, data modeling, data requirements, data manipulation, and requirements elicitation.
Help, when requested, in the design, development, and implementation of new programs and/or modifications of existing applications, including coding and other methodologies.
Support the development of effective communication and recommendations to leadership; may build supporting documentation.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Financial Director – Actuarial or other financial/actuarial management.
Typical Skills and Experiences
Education/Knowledge:
Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or similar background requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis.
License/Certification/Designation:
May have passed several actuarial, LOMA, or other industry exams and may hold information technology certifications.
Experience:
Generally, two to four years of financial, actuarial, or relevant experience.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
General knowledge of finance or actuarial business functions, statistical methods of analysis, financial or actuarial models, financial/actuarial software, programming languages or databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (including VBA within Access and Excel), programming languages, and actuarial models. Basic customer focus, business perspective, accounting, problem solving, ambiguity tolerance, drive for results, analytical thinking, and learning agility.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences, may take precedence.
