As a Human Resources Specialist III, you will support classification, compensation, and organizational design efforts that directly impact staffing effectiveness, compliance, and employee experience across the region. Your work will help ensure positions are accurately classified, competitively compensated, and aligned with the evolving needs of a mission-driven healthcare system. Key Responsibilities

Assist in administering the position classification program, including analyzing job descriptions, evaluating classification requests, and ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory standards

Conduct classification and compensation research, including wage and salary surveys, cost studies, and benchmarking to support pay decisions and workforce strategies

Provide consultative and technical HR guidance to managers and supervisors on classification, staffing, organizational structure, and personnel actions

Support organizational and workforce planning efforts by analyzing staffing patterns, vacancy trends, and workforce data to recommend solutions

Assist with union consultation processes related to organizational changes, including preparing documentation, analyzing impacts, and maintaining records

Prepare reports, maintain organizational charts, support HR policy updates, and participate in training sessions, projects, and cross-functional initiatives

Education, Experience, Licensure & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university required. Excess experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

One and one half (1 ½) year of professional experience in human resources or personnel management functions (e.g., classification, recruitment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, or workforce planning) required

Experience with HR analytics, classification systems, or compensation analysis preferred

Desired Skills & Qualifications

Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and HR best practices

Ability to analyze complex personnel issues and develop recommendations

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences

Sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
