Systems Engineer - Senior System Safety Engineer

Lockheed Martin Space has an immediate opportunity for an experienced System Safety Engineer at our Denver, Colorado facility.

Responsibilities
Using your Systems Engineering knowledge and System Safety expertise, you will analyze hardware and software, establish and maintain system safety requirements in support of mission results, support trade studies, requirements allocation, interface definition studies, translate customer requirements into hardware and software requirements, support system integration, and verify/validate system requirements.

Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)

Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings

Develop and/or update System Safety documents to support Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements

Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements

Coordinate with test range safety teams and write range safety reports to support testing

Develop and maintain a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document real and potential hazards, their assessments, and their respective mitigations

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering or related discipline

Experience using System Safety Standards

Experience with the development, documentation, and verification of system requirements

Knowledge of, and application of, System Safety design and operations safety principles including hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation, and associated deliverable documentation

Ability to obtain a security clearance; US citizenship required

Desired Skills

Experience using MIL-STD-882E, RCC-319/324, and SSCMAN 91-710, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards

Experience defining safety requirements, influencing design to integrate safety requirements, and verifying safety requirements

Software system safety experience

Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups

Familiarity with MBSE

Familiarity with DOORs

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Effective communication skills and ability to engage with team members, development organizations, and customers

Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado is $89,300 - $157,550. The salary range reflects the candidate’s final work location and is a general guideline.

Other Information
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off.

Shift: First.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules, including standard 40 hours over a five‑day work week or condensed schedules that provide additional time away from the office.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance; US citizenship is required. Clearance Level: Secret.
