Description:
You will be the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control team. Our team is responsible for ensuring the safety of products developed and sold to customers, with a focus on protecting the warfighter.
Responsibilities:
Perform hazard analyses and recommend safety features to mitigate or eliminate hazards in system design, software, training, and procedures.
Develop and implement system safety programs, focusing on supporting the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Program Area.
Develop hazard analyses and safety assessments.
Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design and procedures.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations and documentation.
Coordinate and lead System Safety Working Group meetings.
Review specifications and design changes for adverse impacts to system safety.
Participate in accident investigations and identify corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Basic: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline; experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882; developing and evaluating system safety requirements; familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines; working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to make formal presentations to large groups; team collaboration with engineers, suppliers, program managers, and customers.
Desired: Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards; knowledge of Human Factors Engineering; familiarity with missile and launcher systems; model‑based engineering knowledge; experience with DOORS requirements application; self‑starter capable of performing tasks with little direction; effective analytical problem‑solving skills, detail‑oriented work with high accuracy; ability to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools.
Security Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a secret clearance. Class: Secret.
Schedule:
Full‑time, First Shift. 4x10 hour day shift, 3 days off per week. Part‑time remote telework option available.
