
Sign/Graphics Trades Specialist - Tiered Sign-on Bonus up to $5,000

What You'll Be Doing
The Sign/Graphics Trades Specialist supports the Sign/Graphics Supervisor in the daily operation of Wake County’s corporate and road name sign programs. This position performs technical, administrative, and field work related to sign design, production, installation, compliance, and program support.
Key Responsibilities:
Support daily operations of the sign/graphics program.
Coordinate workflow for the Corporate and Road Name Sign programs.
Perform sign design, layout, fabrication support, plan review, room numbering, ADA signage coordination, CAD updates, work order processing, and asset data management.
Lead and assist a small crew in the production and installation of signage.
Ensure work complies with Wake County standards and applicable FHWA, MUTCD, and ADA requirements.
Operate specialized sign production equipment, including UV printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters.
Assist with emergency response operations during inclement weather events.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Associate's degree
Four years of experience in sign layout, fabrication and installation
A valid driver's license and a "safe" driving record
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Three years of experience leading or managing employees
Experience supporting both sign fabrication and administrative/program operations
Experience in public sector, municipal, or facilities-related signage programs
How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
Knowledge of signage design, fabrication, installation, and applicable FHWA, MUTCD, and ADA requirements.
Proficiency in UV printing, CNC programming, laser cutting, and sign production equipment.
Advanced proficiency in FlexiSign, EnRoute, Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, RIP software, and Microsoft 365, including Excel.
Ability to manage work orders, maintain asset data, coordinate workflow, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and proper PPE use.
Strong judgment, attention to detail, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
