Truss Assembler

The Truss Assembler builds structural trusses as part of a small team, using hand and power tools to assemble components accurately on large truss tables. This role involves standing for most of the shift, working both indoors and outdoors, and performing physically active tasks in a production environment. The position offers weekly production-based commission in addition to hourly pay.
Responsibilities

Build structural trusses according to specifications using large truss tables.
Work as part of a team of 24 assemblers to complete daily production goals.
Use basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to ensure proper cuts and assembly.
Swing a hammer for extended periods to secure truss components.
Climb up and down from truss tables repeatedly during the shift to position and fasten materials.
Inspect trusses during assembly to ensure they are built properly and meet quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required hearing protection.
Contribute to overall production output to maximize weekly commission opportunities.
Essential Skills

Proven ability to use basic hand tools such as hammers with confidence for extended periods.
Experience using basic power tools in a construction, carpentry, assembly, or similar environment.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and assembly tasks.
Comfort working in a physically demanding role, including standing all day and climbing on and off truss tables.
Capability to work effectively as part of a small team to meet production goals.
Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
Basic familiarity with construction, carpentry, assembly, or farming-related work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience in truss assembly, construction, carpentry, or agricultural work is beneficial.
Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with repetitive tasks.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions related to measurements and assembly procedures.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate builds and structural integrity.
Reliability and consistent attendance to support team-based production.

Work Environment

The position is based in a mid-size truss plant with work performed both indoors and outdoors. The job requires standing for most of the shift and frequently climbing on and off large truss tables. Temperatures can become very hot on the production floor during the summer, and the company provides a large jug of Gatorade on warm days along with plenty of water breaks to help employees stay hydrated. The atmosphere includes a large radio playing in the experience and ear plugs are worn as standard hearing protection; ear buds are not allowed. The dress code is practical and safety-focused: employees may wear shorts, but must wear closed-toe shoes at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pillager, MN.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
