3rd Shift General Production Worker (Lead)
This 3rd Shift General Production Worker role serves as a hands-on lead on the overnight shift in an industrial manufacturing environment. You will operate and monitor production equipment, handle corncob materials, ensure product quality, and support logistics activities, while also helping to solve problems on the floor and holding the team accountable to meet daily production expectations without relying on the operations manager.
Responsibilities
Lead the 3rd shift production team by modeling safe, efficient work practices and helping hold team members accountable to daily production goals.
Independently problem-solve day-to-day production issues and make sound decisions to keep operations running smoothly without frequent escalation.
Operate machinery used to process, grind, dry, and package corncob materials according to established procedures.
Handle raw corncob inputs stored indoors to maintain cleanliness and proper moisture control.
Follow standardized operating procedures to produce consistent, high-quality outputs for multiple industries.
Conduct routine inspections of materials to ensure they are free from contaminants, mold, or moisture.
Assist with rigorous testing and quality-assurance processes to maintain product standards.
Document quality checks accurately and report any variations, defects, or equipment issues promptly.
Set up, operate, and clean production equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks and promptly alert appropriate personnel to mechanical problems.
Adhere strictly to all workplace safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and material-handling standards.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe production environment throughout the shift.
Work collaboratively with production, quality, and logistics teams to support smooth operations and on-time delivery.
Support loading activities for in-house trucking as needed to meet delivery timelines.
Follow instructions accurately while maintaining a positive, team-focused attitude.
Manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment and stay organized across multiple tasks and priorities.
Essential Skills
Experience in general labor or production work in an industrial or hands-on environment.
Ability to operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around mechanical systems.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
Forklift operation experience or ability to learn forklift operation.
Experience with hand tools and basic equipment setup or adjustment.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a team environment, including holding others accountable.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions independently on shift.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions consistently.
Good attendance and a reliable work history.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment when production demands increase.
Ability to communicate clearly with team members across production, quality, and logistics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical knowledge (preferred).
Computer skills (preferred).
Experience in machine operating, construction, farming, or other mechanically inclined roles is beneficial.
Experience as a farm hand or in other physically demanding, hands-on roles is a plus.
Comfort working in a small team environment where adaptability and teamwork are essential.
Interest in continuous improvement and taking initiative to enhance processes and performance.

Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial, hands-on production facility focused on corncob processing. Work involves physical labor, machinery operation, and logistics activities such as forklift driving and truck loading. The facility operates across three shifts: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with this position assigned to 3rd shift. Overtime is available, with the option to work between 40 and 60 hours per week, including weekends for additional hours. You will work as part of a small 3rd shift team of about seven people within a location of roughly 45 employees, fostering close working relationships and a collaborative atmosphere. The environment requires consistent use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards. A defined dress code applies to support safety and professionalism on the production floor.
