Medical Assistant II

Perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support physicians and keep office operations running smoothly.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Collect basic patient intake and vitals
Perform necessary point of care testing
Document all patient visits and communication in EMR properly
Performs capillary blood draws, newborn screens, dental varnish, and routine hearing and vision screens
Properly administer oral medication as directed by the provider
Handles refills/referrals/authorizations
Ability to perform EKG's
Properly administer vaccines and injectable medication as directed by the provider (oral and single/multi-dose injectables). Must pass practice standards on administration for vaccines to become an MA II
Performs straight catheter via sterile procedure as ordered by the provider.
TVFC knowledge - ordering/counting/uploading temps
Responsible for training new MA staff
Must have 3 years Medical Assistant experience or 1 year experience in pediatric office
Answer back line phone calls as needed as well as accurately chart phone calls and initiate proper follow through
Perform necessary cleaning duties maintaining an orderly work environment and ensure an adequate stock of medical supplies
Responsible for all incoming school/day care forms for the assigned provider
Ethical conduct, confidentiality, and collaboration with the healthcare team are expected and considered essential elements of this position
Can maintain physical demands and work environment as listed below
Education & Experience

Required
High school diploma or equivalent
3 Years Medical Assistant experience or 1 year experience in pediatric office
CMA Certification
Preferred
CPR Certification
Knowledge of EMR software
Physical Demands & Work Environment Requirements

This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements.
Expected Hours of Work The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.
COVID/FLU CONSIDERATIONS If requested by any patient, then staff is required to wear a surgical mask. Patients are strongly encouraged to wear a mask if they are experiencing any acute respiratory symptoms or have a fever. Employees who are not flu-vaccinated will be required to wear a mask in all patient facing areas from September 1 to March 1st unless dates are modified due to clinical factors (unusual epidemic patterns, etc).
