Production Packer
The General Utility Worker is an entry-level role that supports production operations in a meat-processing environment. This position performs a variety of general labor tasks across multiple production areas rather than working in a single fixed role. The General productionWorker follows established food safety and sanitation procedures while assisting with product handling, equipment preparation, and maintaining clean, organized, and compliant production areas.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all company policies and procedures related to meat processing.
Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized production areas throughout the shift.
Identify and promptly report any conditions that could create sanitation or food safety risks to supervisors or leads.
Remove product, equipment, and packaging materials from floors to maintain safe workspaces.
Properly separate, dispose of, and track inedible products according to company guidelines.
Remove trash and recyclables from production areas and place them in designated disposal locations.
Stage production areas with empty containers, tools, and supplies in preparation for upcoming shifts.
Assist with general line support and additional tasks as needed to support production efficiency.
Essential Skills & Physical Requirements
Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
Ability to follow directions accurately and work with minimal supervision.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to stand and walk continuously for the duration of the shift.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform job duties.
Ability to work safely around moving mechanical equipment and in elevated or potentially hazardous areas.
Work Environment
This position is located in a meat-processing manufacturing facility. Employees routinely work around moving mechanical parts and may occasionally work at elevated heights. The environment includes both cold temperatures (approximately 30F) and warmer zones, and noise levels are typically high. The role requires constant standing, walking, reaching, and hands-on material handling throughout the shift.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
