Press Brake Operator
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and quality inspection of formed metal components using both manual clutch-operated and CNC press-brake machines. This role requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and inspection documents to ensure all parts meet specification and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup & Operation
Set up and operate manual clutch-operated press-brakes and/or CNC-controlled press-brakes according to production schedules and job travelers.
Select, align, and secure proper tooling, dies, and fixtures according to specification for each process.
Input and adjust CNC parameters (bend angles, back-gauge positions, tonnage, etc.) as required.
Verify machine settings and perform test bends to ensure part accuracy before production.
Operate hand tools and precision measuring equipment to adjust or fine-tune formed parts.
Quality & Inspection
Inspect first-piece and in-process parts to ensure conformance to drawings, using calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
Maintain inspection records and report any deviations, defects, or nonconformities.
Perform visual and dimensional checks for bend accuracy, flatness, and surface quality.
Maintenance & Safety
Perform daily machine checks as needed, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspection for wear on tooling used in bending process.
Report on maintenance issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of experience operating either manual or CNC press-brake machines.
Strong knowledge of metal forming principles, bend allowances, and sheet metal characteristics.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
Proficient with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with Amada, Cincinnati, Accurpress, Chicago, Strippit or similar press-brake equipment preferred.
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, sharp metal edges, and moving machinery. Appropriate PPE (as outlined in our safety manual) must be always worn.
