Job Description
As a PAINTER-TITLE 32, WG-4102-9, you will prepare surfaces by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Fill in holes and dents using body fillers and hardeners. Sand and even out dents and scars to assure a smooth and level surface using sanders, scrapers, sandpaper, hand tools, wire brushes, and paint remover. Apply coatings to specified areas ensuring the surfaces are free from skips, runs, and drips. Apply rustproof compound to areas. Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray paint equipment. Prepare coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in additives needed. Use measuring equipment to achieve the proper viscosity and thickness for applying the coatings. Apply prime, intermediate and final coats of semi-gloss, gloss and other paint, lacquer, enamel, varnish and shellac. Ensure match, texture and appearance meet finish requirements. Replace and apply markings/lettering as specified by manuals. Apply coatings using acceptable methods of the trade. Read and interpret blueprints when applying camouflage patterns. Read and interpret directions that relate to mixture, use, and application of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents. Monitor and adjust air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings. Complete records for paint usage and paint waste as per environmental regulations. Apply Chemical Agent Reactive Coating materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. Manage workflow in paint shop as assigned by the supervisor. Confer with the customer when needed. Clean and maintain painting equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
