Donor Room Apheresis Technician
Hourly Pay Range: $19.89 - $28.84 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Position Highlights:
Location: Evanston Hospital
Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4pm
Required Travel: Yes, float.
What you will do:
Collect autologous and directed whole blood donations and apheresis platelet donations. Perform therapeutic phlebotomies and peripheral stem cell collections. Recruit apheresis donors, homologous whole blood donors, and neonatal plasma donors. Serve as a resource person for junior staff members. Responsible for performing procedures consistent with or based on the age and developmental status of the patient to maximize the clinical outcome and safety of the patient.
Adhere to blood bank quality control procedures, document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Utilize internal and external variance forms to document policy or procedure deviations and corresponding corrective actions.
Strictly adhere to blood bank policies and procedures as outlined in the donor room procedure manual.
What you will need:
* License: N/A
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent with on the job training in blood center operations and apheresis, or Bachelor's degree in a biological science with no clinical certification or LPN license, or EMT certification with phlebotomy experience.
Certification: CPR-BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association required and PBT (ASCP) certification preferred
Experience: Phlebotomy training experience
Skills: Good communication and organization skills, moderate computer skills needed, reliable transportation to travel between sites required, strong customer service skills.
