Pallet Builder Responsibilities:
- Build skids as demand requires. - Complete daily work orders as assigned by Skid Shop Supervisor. - Monitor skid/pallet inventory to help ensure production is always available for production department use. - Monitor the quality of skid/pallet to ensure they are built to customers specifications. - Help build new skids as needed and help to develop written instructions for new product. - Help to inspect final product as needed. - Make Skid Shop Supervisor aware of necessary supplies that are needed. - Ensure that the Skid Shop area is neat and organized at all times. - Use of different types of lifts: forklifts, clamps, tow motor, and hand lifts - Use of different types of tools, for example: utility knife, tape measure, nail gun, chop saw, etc.
Requirements for Pallet Builder:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent - Experience with woodworking and/or carpentry desired - Ability to work a flexible work schedule based on need and schedules - Initial forklift certification and renewal every 3 years - Basic computer knowledge - Full understanding of company's safety procedures and policies - Basic math and measuring skills - Skill in operation of company tools and equipment - Excellent communication and customer service skills - Basic machine maintenance skills/trouble-shooting skills - Ability to think and react quickly, ability to manage multiple priorities - Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity and cost - Constantly required to stand, talk, and hear. - Constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. - Frequently required to reach above shoulder level, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel/squat, crouch, crawl, and walk. - Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. - Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. - Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. - Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. - Constantly works inside a noisy and dusty building/warehouse.
