
Project Accountant

A well-established NYC-based Commercial General Contractor is seeking a Project Accountant to support multiple active construction projects across Manhattan.
This role is ideal for an accountant who understands GC project workflows and enjoys partnering closely with Project Managers and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full project accounting lifecycle for assigned construction projects
Set up jobs, budgets, cost codes, and contracts in the accounting system
Track job costs, analyze variances, and support cost-to-complete forecasting
Prepare and submit monthly AIA billings (G702/G703)
Review subcontractor invoices and pay applications against contracts and SOVs
Track change orders, retention, and project cash flow
Maintain accurate WIP schedules and support month-end close
Partner with Project Managers to provide financial insight and reporting
Requirements
3–7+ years of experience as a Project Accountant within a General Contractor
Strong understanding of construction accounting and job cost reporting
Hands-on experience with AIA billing and WIP
Experience with construction accounting systems (Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, CMiC, Procore, or similar)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
This is a stable, well capitalized general contractor with a strong New York City pipeline. A role with high visibility working directly with Project Management with a long-term growth opportunity available within the finance team.
