Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent / Traffic Controller to support our fast-paced graphic printing operation. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials such as paper stock, inks, finishes, packaging, and production supplies. This job also involves scheduling of jobs once proofs are approved and ensuring timely flow of work through the shop. The ideal candidate thrives on accuracy, follow-through, and continuous improvement, and takes pride in catching and correcting errors before they impact production or accounting.
Key Responsibilities

Source, evaluate, and purchase materials required for daily printing operations
Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production schedules while minimizing excess
Conduct monthly inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accuracy
Regular audits of inventory, purchasing records, & vendor transactions to identify & correct errors
Review purchase orders, invoices, and shipments for accuracy; identify and correct discrepancies
Track orders from placement through delivery, ensuring on-time fulfillment
Proactively follow up with vendors on order status, backorders, and quality issues
Build and maintain strong relationships with material vendors to secure competitive pricing and reliable supply
Collaborate with production, scheduling, & accounting to align purchasing with operational needs
Analyze vendor performance and recommend improvements or alternative suppliers
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines
Maintain accurate records in ERP or purchasing systems
Schedule workflow in ShopVox in a timely manner to ensure timely flow of work through the shop
Qualifications

2–5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience (printing or manufacturing preferred)
Strong attention to detail with a natural ability to spot inconsistencies and errors
Experience with inventory management, cycle counting, and audit processes
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; nothing falls through the cracks
Effective communicator with the ability to build trust and long-term vendor relationships
Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, production environment
Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
