Location: Cambridge, MA
Duration: 2 months with possible extension
Part time: 14 hours/week
Position Overview
The Audio Visual (AV) Assistant supports instructors and students in live and hybrid learning environments throughout the DCE semesters. This role is responsible for ensuring classroom technology functions smoothly before, during, and after class sessions. Working collaboratively with a team, AV Assistants deliver reliable technical support that enhances the overall teaching and learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, set up, and operate AV and IT equipment for scheduled classes and meetings
Support hybrid course delivery, including assistance with video conferencing platforms such as Zoom
Provide real-time, in-class technical support to instructors during live sessions
Troubleshoot and resolve basic AV issues involving projectors, microphones, and sound systems
Conduct weekly equipment checks and perform basic maintenance to ensure systems are functional
Maintain classroom technology in accordance with established procedures
Respond promptly to technical support requests from instructors and staff during assigned shifts
Track and manage AV equipment inventory
Organize and secure equipment during non-instructional times
Assist with creating and updating documentation and user guides for AV system use
Collaborate with the IT team and other DCE staff to resolve technical issues
