Project Manager I / II – Documentation (MSP)
Summary
The Project Manager I/II – Lifecycle & Documentation is responsible for coordinating and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of client engagements within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment. This role emphasizes
structured project execution, high-quality documentation, and seamless transition to managed services operations .
The ideal candidate brings strong foundational project management skills aligned with PMI standards, with a particular strength in documentation, process adherence, and lifecycle governance. This role operates in a hybrid model, requiring
2 days onsite per week
to support collaboration with internal teams and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Support and manage projects across the
full lifecycle , including initiation, planning, execution, delivery, and transition to managed services
Develop, maintain, and enforce
comprehensive project documentation , including project plans, schedules, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials
Ensure successful
handoff to operations/NOC/Service Desk , including complete and accurate documentation, SLA alignment, and readiness validation
Track project progress against scope, schedule, and budget, escalating risks and issues as needed
Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, service delivery, and customer stakeholders
Facilitate project meetings, status updates, and stakeholder communications with clear, consistent reporting
Align deliverables with
MSP service catalog, SLAs, and contractual requirements
Assist with onboarding activities such as environment discovery, documentation standardization, and monitoring/tool setup
Maintain accurate records within PSA/RMM and project management tools (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask, JIRA, or similar)
Support change management processes and ensure proper documentation of all scope or service changes
Contribute to
continuous improvement of PMO standards , templates, and documentation practices
Ensure compliance with internal governance, quality standards, and lifecycle checkpoints
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
3–6+ years of project coordination or project management experience in an
MSP, IT services, or consulting environment
Familiarity with
PMI methodologies and standards
(CAPM, PMP, or progress toward certification preferred)
Demonstrated strength in
project documentation and organization
(this is a core requirement)
Experience supporting projects through
full lifecycle delivery , including transition to operations
Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud (Azure/AWS), or networking environments
Experience with tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, JIRA, ConnectWise, or other PSA platforms
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document technical and non-technical information
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced MSP environment
Comfortable working in a
hybrid model (2 days onsite weekly)
