Creighton Preparatory School is seeking an Accounts Payable Staff Accountant to join its Business Office Team. The AP Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts payable process and coordinating daily cash deposits. This role ensures accurate and timely financial operations while supporting the overall function of the Business Office.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily bank deposits, including coding to appropriate revenue accounts, processing remote capture deposits, and transporting cash deposits to the bank.
Coordinate cash requests with the bank to meet departmental needs.
Review and provide final approval of accounts payable invoices in Blackbaud following entry and approval by Account Managers, saving invoice copies in Business Office files.
Print and distribute accounts payable checks.
Reconcile vendor statements and verify accuracy of payments and credits.
Maintain petty cash box and receipts, posting monthly entries to reconcile activity and balance.
Manage vehicle registration renewals with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Oversee application of property tax exemptions with the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office.
Maintain updated W-9 records for vendors and work with external accounting firm to prepare annual Form 1099’s.
Order and maintain business office supplies as needed.
Assist the Director of Human Resources with various tasks.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the CFO and Controller.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with accounts payable, cash handling, and data entry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting systems (Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred).
Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and relevant regulations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality and strong internal controls.
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships, especially during high-volume periods.
Strong communication skills.
Supervision: This position reports directly to the Controller.
Education and Experience: An associates or bachelors degree in accounting, business, or related field is preferred, however, an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
