About the role
The Shop Foreman – Truck Center is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, managing repair orders from start to completion, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. This role provides technical leadership to technicians, coordinates workflow, and ensures efficient communication between customers, technicians, and support staff. The Shop Foreman plays a key role in maintaining productivity, safety, and service excellence.
What you'll do
Open, manage, and close all repair orders from start to finish
Prepare accurate repair estimates and communicate findings with customers in a timely manner
Coordinate closely with the Parts Department to ensure parts availability and minimize downtime
Monitor shop workflow and assign work to technicians to maximize efficiency and productivity
Provide diagnostic and technical support to technicians as needed
Perform quality control inspections on completed repairs to ensure work meets company standards
Maintain clear and consistent communication between technicians, customers, and support staff
Assist in training, mentoring, and developing technicians to improve skill levels and performance
Ensure proper documentation of all repairs and services performed
Assist Service Manager in meeting departmental productivity and profitability goals
Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Follow and enforce company safety procedures and policies
Assist with prioritizing emergency and high-priority repairs
Monitor technician performance and provide feedback to Service Manager
Qualifications
5+ years of heavy truck or diesel repair experience preferred
Previous leadership or foreman experience preferred
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of truck systems including diesel engines, electrical, brakes, suspension, and driveline
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Computer proficiency and experience with shop management software preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
Work in shop environment including exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment
Occasional extended hours based on business needs
Truck service and repair shop environment
Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere
Interaction with technicians, customers, and management
