GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the close supervision of a Program Specialist 3, Program Specialist 4, or other supervisory officer in a State department or agency, a trainee receives on‑job training while assisting in the professional, administrative, and analytical work to promote planning, operation, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of human or social service programs, programs serving socio‑economic needs of specific client populations, and regulatory programs designed to ensure public safety, health and welfare, or protection of the environment. The trainee completes assignments that provide practical Program Specialist experience and performs related duties.
WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Clean Energy team in overseeing and managing clean energy projects awarded by the BPU.
Track industry trends, needs, changes, and events, and advise the team on relevant updates for strategic policy planning initiatives.
Facilitate communications between staff and awarded projects; support and facilitate logistics for major program initiatives such as public events and procurement engagements.
Participate in inter‑agency initiatives with various stakeholders.
Support research tasks and prepare technically sound recommendations related to offshore wind endeavors.
Log, track, and maintain project records.
REQUIREMENTS
Either thirty (30) semester hour credits equal one (1) year of relevant experience, or four (4) years of professional experience relevant to the position.
Or possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Professional experience must be analytic, evaluative, interpretive, and performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
ADVANCEMENT
Appointees who successfully complete the 12‑month training period will be eligible for advancement to Program Specialist 1.
