Pecos Cyber Academy (PCA) is a fully virtual public school serving students across New Mexico. This position operates in a remote work environment; however, the role requires participation in in-person student testing events and occasional travel for required trainings and professional development. The Primary & Secondary Dean of Students will support elementary and secondary programs by providing leadership, supervision, and administrative support to promote student success. Requirements
Must reside in New Mexico and the United States
12-month position (year-round responsibilities)
Master’s degree required
Level 2 or Level 3 New Mexico teaching license
Current NM Administrative License or actively working toward licensure
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the building principal, the Dean of Students provides leadership to support student achievement, attendance, and overall school success. This role assists the principal in supervising staff, supporting instructional practices, and ensuring systems are in place to meet the needs of all students in a virtual environment.
Student Support & Achievement
Monitor and support attendance, academic progress, and student success plans
Track attendance and communicate with families, including sending required attendance letters
Support Academic Improvement Plans, MLSS/SAT processes, and intervention systems
Track and monitor student performance data (e.g., Renaissance, pass/fail reports)
Ensure students are appropriately scheduled and placed in correct courses
Family Communication & Engagement
Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, expectations, and engagement
Maintain documentation of communication and interventions
Support family engagement in the instructional program
Instructional Leadership & Staff Support
Conduct classroom walkthroughs and document observations aligned to evaluation domains/competencies
Support evaluation processes, including feedback and conferences with staff
Assist with onboarding and training of new staff
Collaborate with staff on curriculum implementation and instructional effectiveness
Student Services & Compliance
Participate in and support IEP, 504, MLSS/SAT, and Academic Improvement Plan meetings
Come prepared with data and relevant information to support team decision-making
Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements for student services
Promote equity and support diverse student needs
School Operations & Leadership
Assist the principal in daily operations and supervision of school programs
Support and/or coordinate committees (SAT, MLSS, IEP, etc.) to ensure timely and effective meetings
Assist with summer school supervision and implementation
Substitute as needed to support instructional continuity
Help maintain a safe, respectful, and productive school environment
Professional Responsibilities
Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and strong organizational skills
Maintain confidentiality and accurate records
De-escalate concerns with students, families, and staff when needed
Follow all PCA policies, procedures, and NM PED requirements
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Executive Director
Work Environment
Remote work setting (home office required)
Regular virtual interaction with students, families, and staff
Must be self- motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Flexibility required; interruptions are routine and after-hours work may be necessary
Required participation in in-person testing events and travel for trainings/professional development
Compensation
Salary determined by PCA Human Resources and the Executive Director
