Job Overview
Works under general supervision to install, modify, remodel and repair mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid driver’s license.

Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided (e.g., WV: Plumbers License through the West Virginia Department of Labor).

Mechanical Aptitude test administered at Department level.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Preventative and corrective maintenance of all hospital plumbing systems—troubleshoot, test, assemble, install, and repair pumps, pipes, fittings, and fixtures; cut, thread, and weld pipes; assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.

Supervise general maintenance workers, allocating and coordinating workflow, training and advising on complex plumbing repair work throughout the hospital.

Provide skilled preventive and corrective repair work throughout the hospital.

Access and perform assigned duties in locked medication rooms—report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional.

Perform other maintenance duties as directed.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to climb and work off of ladders, scaffolding or electric lifts and operate basic manual cleaning equipment.

Working Environment

Frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock.

Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintain a safe environment.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work based on operational needs of the hospital.

Ability to relay information and deal tactfully and harmoniously with others.
