Job Summary
This announcement is filling two vacancies within the Office of Financial Management. The positions are located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
As the Finance Coordinator, you provide in-depth budget and financial analysis that supports leadership and management in making well-informed financial decisions. The analysis provided helps ensure that the agency meets its obligations in managing federal, state (including bond), and special revenue funds and complies with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies. You’ll also provide financial analysis and recommendations on budget and fiscal policy issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of advanced professional budget or financial analysis experience that demonstrates:
Experience monitoring and tracking program budgets to include developing forecast, variance analysis, trends analysis, and/or fund balance projections.
Experience using statewide or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/accounting systems (e.g., PeopleSoft/Oracle or equivalent) and data tools.
Experience consulting and providing guidance on financial matters by interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or similar accounting principles.
Experience creating financial reports or analytic tools to reconcile, report, and present financial results.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business, or finance may substitute for six months of advanced professional budget or financial analysis experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Public-sector budget and financial analysis experience with oversight of multiple funding sources (federal, state/bond, special revenues).
Experience leading or coordinating an annual budget cycle, including scenario modeling, contingency planning, and compliance reviews.
