Overview
The City of Crestwood Public Works Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker I.
Responsibilities
This role involves maintaining the City’s 50 miles of streets and 120 acres of park properties.
Operate various trucks, light and heavy equipment.
Perform semi‑skilled work including asphalt patching, concrete work, crack sealing, grading, forestry, horticulture, landscaping, retaining walls, painting, carpentry, and trash removal.
Serve on‑call during winter months to remove snow and ice from streets, parks, sidewalks, and steps.
Frequent lifting and moving of light and heavy objects.
Work includes non‑routine, weekend, and emergency hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of street maintenance, equipment/truck operations, snow removal procedures, and construction is preferred.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Class "B" CDL within 6 months of employment.
Must pass a police background check.
Must pass a drug screen per DOT guidelines.
Salary & Benefits
Entry‑level salary range: $42,236 – $44,339.
For applicants with 3+ years experience and a valid Class "A" or "B" commercial driver’s license with air brakes: salary range $50,500 – $53,025.
Benefits include 11½ paid holidays, sick and vacation time, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a boot allowance, and retirement benefits (including LAGERS).
