Job Description
Position Summary:
This position which serves The School District of University City reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting reports, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. The role also serves to ensure the Finance Department and the school district’s compliance with federal, state, and district policies and requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepare financial reports of SDUC revenues and expenditures
Receive, monitor, and record revenue from local, state, and federal sources
Assist with compliance of fiscal grant guidelines to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Generate cash flow projections
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Approve all requisitions and invoices to be paid
Create all accounts within the financial system
Coordinate with principals and department leaders on budgetary matters
Monitor and approve payroll reports
Assist CFO in the preparation of the budget
Prepare journal entries, as needed
Assist with the day-to-day administration of employee and retiree health benefits
Prepare the Annual Secretary to the Board report
Facilitate the Medicaid reimbursement process
Prepare reports for the internal and external auditors.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are required for the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college/university. CPA preferred.
Three or more years of equivalent or relevant experience.
Extensive knowledge of business administration and accounting procedures.
Ability to apply principles of analytical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge of basic office equipment, accounting software, Excel required.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the ability to work proactively with others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time
Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area
This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work-related hazards
