About the Role
Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit (KSN), a leading law firm in community association law, is seeking an experienced associate attorney to advise condominium, homeowner (HOA), and townhome associations.
This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys client advisory work, governance, and real‑estate related legal matters, and wants consistent client interaction with boards and decision‑makers.
What You’ll Do
Advise
Condominium and HOA Boards of Directors
on governance and compliance
Draft and review
contracts, governing documents, and legal opinions
Handle
covenant enforcement and violation matters
Attend
board meetings
and provide legal guidance
Interpret and apply:
Illinois Condominium Property Act
Common Interest Community Association Act
Conduct legal research and draft correspondence
Manage multiple client matters and deadlines
What We’re Looking For (MUST-HAVES)
J.D. + Active Illinois Bar License (Required)
3–10 years of legal experience (real estate, litigation, or advisory)
Strong writing, research, and client communication skills
Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently
Preferred Experience
HOA / Condominium / Community Association law
Real estate law or governance advisory work
Trial, arbitration, or dispute resolution experience
