
Maintenance Worker - Cemetery

Brief Description
To participate in maintaining a healthy, safe environment of all city facilities for the enjoyment of the citizens of Cleburne. This is a non-supervisory position. General Job function is to efficiently and effectively perform maintenance operations; including operating machinery and performing maintenance tasks.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of equipment including safety standards to prevent hazards
Thorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of motor vehicles including provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code
Sufficient skills to service and make minor repairs on equipment
Sufficient knowledge of technical skills related to the work of maintenance
Ensures that one’s actions promote professionalism and credibility for the organization
Ability to interact effectively and constructively with all levels of employees – peers and managers
Demonstrates accountability in completing tasks, projects, or other work assignments on time and according to established performance standards
Skill in reading maps and surveys
Knowledge of plumbing operations
Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations
Education and Experience
High school graduation or its equivalent; experience in maintenance work desirable; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certificates and Licenses Required
A license for application of herbicides and pesticides is preferred but not required.
A valid Class C Texas motor vehicle driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Environmental Factors and Safety Hazards
Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months.
Tools and Equipment Used
Air tools, chainsaw, tree trimming tools, and weed eater, backhoe, agricultural-type tractor with 15’ flex-wing mower and push mower, a gator-type four-wheel vehicle with spray rig/applicator, zero-radius riding mower, various carpentry, plumbing and electrical tools, etc.
