Position Description and Duties
The Department of Biology seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor with a strong commitment to teaching and research in Microbiology. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Microbiology and general biology, developing curricula with evidence‑based practices, and supervising and mentoring undergraduate students. Faculty will establish an active research program, engage in grant writing, and participate in departmental and university‑wide activities.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) with expertise in Microbiology and undergraduate teaching experience using innovative STEM pedagogy. Candidates should have expertise in molecular approaches and have taken graduate courses in the sub‑discipline. Postdoctoral experience or five years of related work experience, a record of peer‑reviewed publications, and success in obtaining extramural funding are advantageous. Experience creating programs that support underrepresented students or faculty is preferred. Commitment to equity and inclusion is essential.
Compensation
$57,252 – $98,995, commensurate with education and experience. CUNY provides a competitive benefits package that includes health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
