Salary Range:
$36,571 to $58,488 per year
Position Summary:
Speech Language Pathology Assistants supplement the services of Speech Language Pathologists. The SLPA must be supervised by qualified staff and cannot practice independently or provide services in the absence of a qualified SLP.
General Responsibilities
Assist the speech‑language pathologist with screening activities.
Assist with copying, distributing, and filing special‑education forms and contacting parents to set up meetings.
Prepare materials for therapy sessions.
Assist with transporting children to and from services within the school.
Monitor the child’s performance following directions from the speech‑language pathologist and only after verification that the assistant can accurately gather data.
Qualifications and Experience
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in speech‑language pathology.
Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid Virginia Commercial driver’s license.
