Duties & Responsibilities
Repair work includes, but is not limited to, preventative maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of building HVAC and mechanical systems.
Maintain assigned building systems and equipment to ensure they operate efficiently, safely, and according to design intent while meeting established operational guidelines.
Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, potential failures, and operational deficiencies, and perform corrective repairs as needed.
Maintain and repair specialized or high-profile equipment as assigned.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and overhaul equipment such as air handlers, exhaust fans, pumps, VAVs, VFDs, air compressors, vacuum pumps, heat pumps, bearings, electric motors, and other environmental control devices.
Utilize testing and diagnostic tools to identify mechanical or electrical malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Respond to service requests and emergency maintenance calls to restore HVAC and mechanical systems to proper working condition.
Install, maintain, modify, or repair air handlers, fan coils, exhaust fans, air compressors, pumps, vacuum pumps, evaporative coolers, belts, bearings, sheaves, and other ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
Assist with system upgrades, equipment replacements, and modifications to improve system performance and reliability.
Ensure installations and repairs comply with applicable safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and building codes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and various work station software.
Familiar with hand and power tools and with testing and troubleshooting equipment.
Excellent communication skills.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Provide excellent customer service and educate clients on system usage and maintenance.
Physical Requirement
Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required.
Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a university or public sector setting.
Possess a Certificate of Completion as a HVAC Technician from a licensed trade educational entity.
