
AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), Key West, FL, United States
Duties
Overhaul heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and components in structures with special requirements and sensitive equipment.
Use principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration to maintain heating and cooling systems.
Test refrigerant controls, thermostats, thermostatic and automatic expansion valves, float valves, and capillary tubes for leaks using testing methods and equipment.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Qualification requirements emphasize the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
Interpret instructions, specifications, and blueprints to repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Trace and locate defects with HVAC, analog, direct digital control (DDC), and refrigeration systems to determine type and extent of repair needed.
Install a variety of large complex commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Experience may include paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program and may involve multiple vacancies. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet pre‑employment requirements, including failure to report to scheduled appointments.
