Southern Cancer Center is hiring a
Pharmacy Assistant
to support our licensed pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Position Overview
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will perform technical, nonjudgmental tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, inventory control, and record keeping. Your work will be verified by a registered pharmacist or nurse, and you'll play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing medication orders, including compounding and admixing under supervision.
Verify patient and physician information for accuracy.
Admix drugs per department and OSHA guidelines.
Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric/apothecary equivalents.
Maintain controlled drug counts and proper disposal of materials.
Support inventory control, temperature logs, and documentation of lot numbers.
Prepare labels, file records, and assist with billing and data entry.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
0-3 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
Ability to perform manual tasks with precision and attention to detail.
Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Corrected vision and hearing required.
Work Environment
Exposure to patients and medicinal substances, including chemotherapeutic agents.
