
Pharmacy Tech (IV Admixture)

Title : Pharmacy Technician (IV Admixture) – Waco location
Schedule : Full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; no weekends, on‑call, or major holiday shifts.
Location : Waco, Texas.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under the direct supervision of a physician.
Verify orders for completeness, patient information, and proper physician authorization.
Under direct supervision, accurately and timely admix drugs as ordered, in accordance with department guidelines, OSHA regulations, and internal protocols.
Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
Assist in weekly controlled‑drug counts and maintain accurate records; properly dispose all materials used when mixing chemotherapy or non‑chemotherapy IVs.
Assist in daily cleaning of compounding hoods, monthly drug checks for out‑dates, and other quality assurance activities.
Maintain accurate temperature logs and documentation for all protocol and patient‑assistance drugs.
Ensure proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers.
Provide inventory control support, prepare labels, file and prepare billing, perform basic data entry, and order medications and supplies as directed.
Assist with required cleaning and maintenance of the admixture area and the pharmacy department to minimize particle counts and enhance sanitation.
Qualifications
Level 1
High school diploma or equivalent.
Entry‑level to three years of experience in a pharmacy.
Level 2
Minimum three to five years’ experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
IV certification preferred.
Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
Level Sr
Minimum five to seven years’ experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
Oncology background or extensive IV preparation experience preferred.
Completion of an ASHP‑accredited program or community‑college based program recommended.
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this role include full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and the ability to read and record measurements accurately. The employee will sit or stand for extensive periods, occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs, and will require corrected vision and hearing within normal limits.
