
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I-CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I

Illinois Department of Transportation (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I-CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I)
Position Overview: This position is accountable for assisting Resident Engineers and Resident Technician in the inspection, layout and documentation of highway construction projects.
Essential Functions:
Keeps accurate and legible records of inspections, field measurements and documentation of contract items.
Keeps the Resident Engineer or Resident Technician informed on status and/or problems on contractor’s work.
Provides accurate and efficient measurements and construction layout as a member of the staking crew.
Inspects various items of construction for conformity with the contract.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.
