Illinois Department of Transportation (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I-JUNIOR CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR)
Position Overview This position provides engineering assistance to the Resident Engineer in the layout,inspection and documentation of highway construction projects.
Essential Functions
Provides accurate and efficient measurements and construction staking as a memberof the survey crew.
Keeps accurate and legible records of inspection field measurements and documentationof contracts.
Keeps the Resident Engineer informed on the status of and problems with contractor’swork.
Maintains records as directed by the Resident Engineer.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all dutiesin a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering,or a job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.
Conditions of Employment
Valid driver’s license.
Travel.
Successful completion of a background screening.
