Food Service Assistant -- Maple Grove (15393)

Position Overview
This is a 9‑month food service position with summers off, nights and weekends off, and a schedule aligned with school hours. Working hours are 8:30 am–1:30 pm, 5.0 hours daily. Salary is $15.75/hr and all district benefits apply.
Responsibilities
Perform general food service duties including preparation, handling, and serving of meals.
Assist with cooking and use approved methods for washing, drying pots, pans, trays, and silverware.
Serve as point‑of‑sale (POS) for breakfast and lunch, verifying reimbursable meals.
Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
Assist with general cleanup duties and maintain a clean kitchen environment.
Participate in short courses, meetings, and in‑service training as requested.
Provide open, positive communication with all individuals served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
Attend work on time, follow building/departments procedures, maintain regular attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
Kitchen‑related experience preferred.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
Frequent standing, walking, use of hands for handling objects, ability to squat, stoop, kneel, reach up to 36 inches, lift up to 50 lbs up to 12 ft, occasional 20 ft. Work in a noisy kitchen environment with high temperatures and damp floors. Must be able to work with known food allergens.
