
[POOL] PT Faculty, Creative Drama for Teachers

Responsibilities
Faculty will teach pre‑service education students the ED 240 course: Creative Drama for Teachers. Sections are assigned based on needs that arise throughout the year and are taught in a variety of modalities, including face‑to‑face, virtual, and asynchronous. Responsibilities include preparing and developing course materials, assigning and grading student work, reporting student attainment of course outcomes, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge in the subject area and educational technology, establishing reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students, exemplifying the mission of LBCC, working effectively with students and staff of diverse backgrounds, and participating in department and advisory meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Theater, Fine Arts, Performance, Education, HDFS, or a related field.
Experience teaching in a K‑12 environment or a demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to pre‑service teachers about how the dramatic arts intersect with K‑12 curriculum and instruction.
Demonstrated commitment to student‑centered principles and an understanding of the community college mission.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, including faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Recent college teaching experience and working knowledge of computer software and learning management systems.
Experience in a theater setting or other dramatic arts settings, including internships or volunteer work.
Experience with synchronous and asynchronous online instruction.
Expertise or experience teaching from a social justice perspective.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires the ability to work with staff and students in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Salary and Compensation
Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being “rolled” once per term if eligible. Compensation per hour is provided for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, and other related work. All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit and must complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9 within three days of hire. Offers are contingent upon Oregon residency at the time work commences and completion of a post‑offer criminal background check.
