What You’ll Do
Organize and maintain a filing system for patient charts, including generating chart numbers, filing, and pulling charts
Answer telephone and either respond to inquiry, direct caller to appropriate personnel, or initiate a triage slip for response by medical personnel
Schedule appointments and enter appointment date and time into computerized scheduler
Conduct reminder calls to all patients
Greet and direct patients, salespeople, and visitors
Register patients by verifying that patient’s record is up to date and accurate; make appropriate changes in computer system and on patient’s chart
Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices or specialists
Prepare all billings in computerized system for processing by finance
Collect payment from patients and reconcile daily cash reports
Look for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
Identify and solve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully, developing alternate solutions
Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills; listening skills are essential while remaining open to other ideas and trying new things
Conduct oneself with professionalism and in a tactful manner, treating others with respect and consideration
Follow through on commitments
Show strong customer service orientation, responding quickly and appropriately to customer needs, and managing difficult or emotional situations
Demonstrate ability to perform and maintain Annual Competencies
May require other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma/GED required
One year certificate from college or technical school with concentration in front office support for medical settings preferred
At least 3 years experience in a front desk/customer service related field required
Experience in a medical office preferred
