MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II
Responsibilities include operating light and medium duty motor equipment such as pickup trucks, dump trucks with or without trailers, tractors with attachments, and turf mowing equipment. Training may be provided for heavier equipment.
General Duties
Operate motor equipment as described.
Establish performance standards.
Perform other job duties requiring the skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by these responsibilities or less. Assignments are determined by the supervisor based on workloads and departmental needs.
Specialty Areas
Roadway Maintenance
Complete grounds maintenance tasks including pruning, right‑of‑way mowing, removing trees and visual obstructions, grading surfaces, and maintaining landscape along city roadways.
Operate and maintain all equipment used daily, including trucks, truck‑and‑trailer combinations, tractor‑mounted flail mowers, backhoes, front‑end loaders, and skid‑steer loaders, to accomplish the plan of the day.
Perform other job duties requiring the skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by these responsibilities or less.
Landscape Construction
Operate light and medium duty motor equipment; assist crews in landscape maintenance and construction, mowing, fertilizing, seeding, and sod installation.
Establish performance standards.
Perform other job duties requiring the skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by these responsibilities or less.
Tree Removal
Perform grounds maintenance tasks including removal and pruning of large trees and other obstructions and maintaining landscape vegetation along city roadways.
Operate specialized pruning equipment such as chainsaws, pole pruners, and pole saws.
Lead a bucket truck crew and set up complex road closures.
Operate and haul medium to heavy‑duty landscape and construction equipment such as chippers, swap‑body trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, and combination vehicles.
Operate and maintain bucket and knuckle‑boom trucks.
Qualifications
All positions require a Class A Commercial Driver's License or must obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Sign‑On Bonus

Second $1,000.00 bonus issued upon the six‑month evaluation when overall performance meets expectations.
Third $2,000.00 bonus issued upon the one‑year evaluation when overall performance meets expectations.
