Job Overview
We are seeking a Utility Maintenance Technician to assist with the preventative maintenance and repair of pump stations, water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems.
This entry-level role supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems at treatment plants and pump stations. The Utility Maintenance Technician will assist with repairing water and sewer lines, maintaining equipment and vehicles, completing work orders, and supporting overall system operations. The position requires a hands-on approach, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in both field and plant environments. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in utility maintenance, mechanical work, electrical systems, or a related field; or completion of an apprenticeship/internship
Experience assisting with installation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, pipelines, and mechanical equipment
Experience working with tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures
Ability to operate or learn to operate equipment such as pump trucks, crane trucks, and vacuum trucks
Experience completing work orders and documenting maintenance activities
Valid Florida Class B CDL with “N” (tanker) endorsement
Valid Florida driver’s license
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions
Experience Preferences
Experience working in water, wastewater, or utility operations
Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and inspection processes
Experience with electrical, plumbing, or mechanical repair in an industrial or municipal setting
Completion of or ability to complete Utility Maintenance Technician Training Program requirements
Additional certifications or endorsements outlined in progression or training programs
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments, including exposure to weather, noise, and odors
Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor throughout the workday
Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs
Ability to safely operate vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment
Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies
