Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a dynamic emergency department setting. This role emphasizes best practices, relationship-based care, and adherence to professional nursing standards. The nursing care approach aligns with the ANA Code Of Ethics, state nursing practice acts, and regulatory standards, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term needs.
- Apply clinical expertise to make appropriate patient care assignments based on acuity and technical requirements.
- Engage in continuous learning and apply evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and workplace efficiency.
- Deliver excellent patient and visitor relations, demonstrating respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and professionalism.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams to manage expectations and provide timely updates.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise and supporting healthcare students and programs.
- Prioritize patient and workplace safety by adhering to national safety standards, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Participate actively in professional development, leadership opportunities, and nursing councils.
- Foster teamwork by motivating colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and providing mentorship and constructive feedback.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent experience with at least five years of acute care nursing if from a non-accredited program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable.
- Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board.
