Assistant Deputy Director, Facilities (Manager II)
Covered California – Managed by Deputy Director of Business Services Branch (BSB).

Salary
$9,572.00 – $10,867.00 per month (new‑to‑state candidates are hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the alternate range when applicable).

Location & Work Arrangement
SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Onsite with an optional telework arrangement of up to two days per week.

Hours & Shift
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight and administration for the day‑to‑day operations of the Facilities Section and Real Estate Services Section, ensuring alignment with Covered California’s mission.

Lead and develop a multi‑disciplinary team of technical and analytical staff, including supervisors, to drive operational effectiveness.

Oversee sensitive and critical communications with Executive Leadership and external agencies, navigating high‑stakes issues related to facilities and real estate.

Supervise staff activities, including workload prioritization, performance evaluations, training, staffing needs, and resource allocation.

Plan, organize, and evaluate the work of the teams, shaping the development and implementation of administrative policies, priorities, and long‑term initiatives at the Enterprise level.

Coordinate business travel and ensure compliance with reimbursement policies.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Class Specification for Manager II. The required experience includes leading facilities or real‑estate related projects, managing large‑scale projects, identifying process inefficiencies, developing teams, leading change initiatives, and communicating complex information to stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge and strong skills in facility management and real estate, including lease oversight, vendor contracts, tenant improvements, and budget management.

Strong customer‑service skills and the ability to foster positive client relationships.

Project management skills, especially across functional initiatives.

Process improvement and data‑analysis capabilities.

Leadership and team‑development skills for a collaborative, high‑performing environment.

Strategic planning experience aligned with organizational goals.

Stakeholder engagement and relationship‑management experience.

Budgeting and resource‑allocation experience.

Change‑management expertise, including stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.

Research, synthesis, and presentation skills for tailored audiences.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
