
Motor Application Engineer

Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering-specific, commercial, and technical support including design, production, troubleshooting, and upgrade implementations. The role reports to the Plant Manager and supports root cause failure analysis, technical reporting, design upgrades, and overall professional technical support for the plant.
Responsibilities
Provide commercial and technical support throughout the lifecycle of motor and generator projects, including design, production, testing, troubleshooting, and upgrade implementations.
Lead failure mode analyses and reverse engineering efforts for motor and generator components, delivering corrective action recommendations.
Develop detailed CAD drawings and specifications for motor and generator upgrades and re‑designs.
Create and maintain process documentation, including job travelers and test paperwork, to support assembly, repair, and quality assurance operations.
Collaborate closely with production, quality, sales, customer service, and supply chain teams to ensure projects meet quality standards, on‑time delivery, and budget objectives.
Oversee tooling design and specify manufacturing and testing equipment required for motor and generator overhauls, rewinds, and redesigns.
Interface with customers for technical clarifications, quotations, and project status updates.
Support global engineering efforts and share best practices across the Timken network.
Skills
Proficient communication skills (oral & written)
Fundamental electric motor knowledge
Fundamental knowledge of workplace safety
Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk, SolidWorks)
Proficiency in technical mathematics
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 2 years of electric motor experience
Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience
Minimum 1 year of design/manufacturing engineering experience
Course completion and proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk, SolidWorks)
Course completion and proficiency in technical mathematics
Proficient communication skills (oral & written)
Fundamental knowledge of workplace safety
Valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel
Willingness to continue education through training classes or seminars

Pay range: $70,000 - $110,000 (commensurate with experience and education)
