Billing Specialist
A vacancy exists for a Billing Specialist within the Office of Student Services for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. The Billing Specialist provides insurance billing support.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
24 years of relevant professional experience required
Medical insurance billing experience preferred
Ability to handle multiple priorities, interruptions, and a fast-paced work environment
Strong customer service and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and ability to learn internal systems
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective time management with the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Proficiency in using computer systems and technology tools
Valid clearances from State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI
Job Responsibilities:
Billing & Claims Processing
Accurately enter and verify insurance information in MCIU systems and the PA State Medicaid system
Ensure timely and accurate entry of billing data for claim processing
Submit claims to active insurance providers and reprocess claims as needed
Create invoices following completed appointments
Post payments and reconcile invoices
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, errors, and claim denials
Conduct monthly reviews of outstanding and unpaid claims
Customer & Family Support
Collaborate with families to resolve insurance issues within the PA State Medicaid system, including participating in multi-party calls
Deliver consistent, high-quality customer service and support
Tracking, Compliance & Administration
Maintain detailed and accurate billing records and tracking systems
Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations
Support billing functions across multiple programs
Serve as backup support for team members as needed
Model the organization's mission, values, and operating principles
Perform other related duties as assigned
Location: The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 hours/day, 12 months (260-262 days/year) Salary: $27.41/hour - $32.25/hour (PS2)
