Position Profile

As a Buyer with Hobart Brothers, you are responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and services for production operations. This role ensures on-time material availability, cost efficiency, supplier performance and alignment with production schedules.
Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

Building strong supplier partnerships, applying analytical thinking to procurement decisions, and contributing to continuous improvement across the supply chain
Managing strong supplier relationships that ensure quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness
Using negotiation skills to secure value while maintaining long-term partnerships
Proactively identifying supplier risks and creating solutions to maintain supply chain continuity
Coordinating with production planning to maintain proper material availability and prevent production delays

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

Using data and ERP systems to forecast, monitor, and respond to purchasing needs
Leveraging market insights and cost analysis to identify opportunities for savings and efficiency
Approaching challenges with creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment
Partnering effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to align on goals
Communicating with clarity and influence across diverse audiences, including international suppliers
Actively participating in problem resolution and improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field required.
Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain is beneficial but not required.
Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is a plus).
Transferable skills such as negotiation, data analysis, vendor management, and project coordination are valued.
