Overview
Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Engineering Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure, ensuring 99.999% uptime across global AWS data centers.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).
Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Perform rack installations and decommissioning within internal SLAs.
Execute preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
Write technical documentation to support change management.
Track work requests to resolution, execute projects from conception to completion.
Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with procedures and local legislation.
Adapt to various work schedules, including up to 12‑hour shifts and on‑call rotations.
Support multiple locations or sites as required.
Physical Requirements
Regularly lift or move up to 39 pounds independently, and participate in group lifts of 40+ pounds.
Maintain balance while performing construction tasks on ladders.
Perform general tasks such as walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs and twisting above shoulders.
Work in an environment that requires ear protection.
Essential Requirements
Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training or until assigned facility becomes operational.
Travel frequency may vary as business needs dictate.
A Day in the Life
You will support mission‑critical equipment, including stand‑by diesel generators, UPS units, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries, CRAHU units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and motors. The role also covers fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

Work with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver the highest safety and security standards while maintaining cost‑efficient capacity.
Basic Qualifications
1+ year of electrical or mechanical experience.
1+ year of experience with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including weekdays, nights, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of data center engineering experience.
Technical training in a military trade school.
Associate or higher education in a related field.
