
Engineering Technician - Water Operations

M-F / 40 hours+ (2 day shift positions and 1 night shift)

Qualifications
Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Petroleum Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of experience in oil & gas operations, with a focus on water management systems
Strong understanding of water injection, produced water handling, and disposal operations
Experience with pumping systems (ESP, PCP, injection pumps) and flow measurement equipment
Familiarity with SCADA, PLC systems, and field instrumentation
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and pipeline drawings
Knowledge of process control and production optimization techniques
Basic understanding of simulation tools (e.g., PIPESIM) is a plus
Responsibilities
Monitor and operate water injection, produced water, and disposal systems to maintain production targets
Assist in the control and optimization of pumping systems, including multiphase and water injection pumps
Track and analyze system variables (pressure, flow rate, temperature, water cut/BSW) to ensure process stability
Support daily operations including well testing, sampling, and fluid analysis
Maintain accurate production and water balance reports using flow measurement systems
Coordinate and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, pipelines, tanks, and treatment systems
Troubleshoot operational issues related to water handling, injection efficiency, and system failures
Assist with design modifications and continuous improvement initiatives for water systems
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to water disposal and injection
Participate in work permit processes and enforce safe work practices in the field
Operate and maintain instrumentation systems including PLCs, VFDs, control valves, and monitoring equipment
Assist in pipeline integrity monitoring, including pressure testing and leak detection
Coordinate with engineering and field teams to minimize deferred production
