The Recreational and Movement Therapist will design and facilitate structured recreational and movement-based therapeutic activities that promote emotional regulation, physical wellness, confidence, and social engagement.
This position may include working with children, teens, and adults in individual sessions, small groups, workshops, or special events.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creative therapeutic approaches and believes in the healing power of movement, play, and experiential learning.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead recreational and movement-based therapeutic activities
Facilitate engaging sessions that promote emotional, social, and physical wellness
Develop group activities such as:
Movement therapy
Mind-body wellness sessions
Yoga or stretching groups
Theatrical? (included content: therapeutic recreation)
Outdoor or nature-based activities
Team-building and social skills activities
Work collaboratively with therapists and staff to support client goals
Create safe, inclusive, and engaging environments for participants
Adapt activities to meet the needs of individuals with varying abilities
Assist with special programming, workshops, and wellness events
Maintain appropriate documentation when required
Ideal Activities May Include

Mindful stretching and relaxation
Recreational therapy activities
Somatic awareness exercises
Interactive wellness games
Guided physical activities for emotional regulation
Outdoor recreation and nature-based experiences
Creative movement and expressive activities
Qualifications
Degree in Recreation Therapy, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Movement Therapy, Dance Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or related field
Experience facilitating group activities or therapeutic programs
Experience working with children, teens, or adults in therapeutic or wellness settings
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
Ability to create engaging and inclusive activities
Schedule
Part-time position. Flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends for groups or events.
Compensation
Compensation will be discussed based on experience and programming responsibilities.
