2nd Shift Conventional Machinist

Position Overview

We are looking for a Conventional Machinist with hands‑on experience operating manual machining equipment to support precision part manufacturing. This role involves producing, modifying, and repairing components while maintaining quality standards and following established machining practices. The ideal candidate understands shop fundamentals, material properties, and mechanical processes.
Core Responsibilities

Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses to manufacture parts to specification
Review blueprints and technical drawings to plan machining steps and workflows
Perform machine setups, including securing materials, installing tooling, and adjusting offsets
Verify part quality through inspections using precision measuring tools
Monitor machine operation, including speeds and feeds, to ensure optimal performance
Identify and resolve basic equipment or machining issues during production
Work closely with internal teams to ensure product requirements and timelines are met
Select proper materials, tooling, and machining methods for each job
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Complete additional assignments as directed by leadership
Required Qualifications

Experience:

At least 1 year of hands‑on or training-based experience in manual machining
Technical Knowledge:

Use of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges
Familiarity with GD&T principles
Understanding of machining fundamentals and tooling applications
Awareness of workplace safety practices

Skills:

Ability to work efficiently in a production-driven environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication skills

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Compliance Requirement:
This role may involve access to regulated technical information. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements in accordance with ITAR guidelines where applicable.
Preferred Background

Experience working in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing
Completion of vocational training or coursework in machining
Basic knowledge of trigonometry and applied shop math
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Industrial machine shop setting
Required use of PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection
Exposure to noise, airborne particles, and temperature changes
Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift
Must be capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and pushing up to 50 lbs when needed
Flexibility to work overtime based on production needs
